Praying a supererogatory Salah before Salat-ul-`Eid in Musalla al-`Eid

Q 1: What is the ruling on praying a supererogatory Salah (Prayer) before Salat-ul-`Eid (the Festival Prayer) held in Musalla (place for Prayer)?

A 1: No Sunnah (supererogatory) Salah is to be performed before Salat-ul-`Eid. The reason is that one of the times in which it is impermissible to offer a supererogatory Salah is the time after offering Fajr (Dawn) Prayer until the sun rises a spear’s length. Moreover, Salat-ul-`Eid is performed in other than the Masjids (mosques) which means that there is no Tahiyyat-ul-Masjid (two-unit Prayer to salute the mosque) before Salat-ul-`Eid held in a Musalla.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
